Hoping finds the ground.
My faith did not begin as a set of beliefs. It began as an encounter with love. In my early adult life, a Catholic priest told me that God loved me infinitely and unconditionally.
I believed him.
I fell in love with that God.
Then life happened. I encountered beliefs and communities that deepened my faith—and others that wounded it. What followed was a long season of learning, unlearning, questioning, and return.
The Hoping Journey moves through three interwoven territories: Beliefs, Trauma, and Practices. They explore what I have come to believe, what has wounded and distorted my faith, and what continues to form me in love.

Exploring faith requires a rhythm of grounding, unlearning, and practicing. Below, you will find three distinct pathways: Core Foundations centered on the way of Jesus, Spiritual Harm addressing the theological and church wounds carried along the way, and Spiritual Practices designed to form our hearts and minds in love.
Beliefs

What I have come to believe about God, Jesus, humanity, Scripture, and the Christian story.
Core Foundations:
What Does It Mean to Be Human?
Theological anthropology and why it comes first
Trauma

The spiritual injuries caused by harmful theology, coercive systems, exclusion, and church experience—and the work of untangling them.
Four Conflicts Beneath My Spiritual Trauma:
Human Depravity
God’s Absolute Sovereignty and the Blueprint View
Love to Hate
New: On Hell: Recovering the Story
Other Untanglings:
Dispensationalism – the end times are a’comin
The Prosperity Gospel
Christian Nationalism
Complementarianism – men and women in the church and society.
More to come…unfortunately
Practices

Ways of praying, attending, imagining, and living that help form us in love.

A devotional for our time together Each step is intentionally short. Don’t rush it, but don’t overthink it either. And if you have children, the pictures here may help them follow along. Introduction As many of you know, I’ve been attending seminary for the last two years. Alongside those studies, I’ve been exploring the idea…

Faith is not a possession.
Hope is not a conclusion.
Formation is ongoing.
And love remains at the center of it all.
